The hotel is sited on three floors of an office block near the Munich main railway station. It is not a preposessing street or exterior, but convenient for transport (including the airport bus), the inner city and shops in the station that sell English language newspapers and are open on a Sunday. Do not be put off by its being in Munich's red light district - this is Germany and it is all very legal, orderly, discrete and safe.

The manageress and staff are exceptionally friendly, with pleasant greetings and they are happy to help. The shower in my room had a feeble water flow with variable temperature. After a couple of days I asked them to have a look at it. They said it might just be that the hose had got twisted but they would have a look. That day they replaced the hose and shower head - so the water now flows fully, and they wrote me a little note saying how glad they were that I had told them. Good.

Hotel rooms are large, I had two beds, desk, table and two chairs. Decor is OK. Clean. Lighting is OK for ambience but poor for reading or working. Curtains are thin - if sunlight bothers you.

Bathroom was well lit. Soap and two sachets of shower gel/shampoo only. Clean

Noticeably good breakfast: pleasant room, could get crowded, cheerful staff: fruit salad, selection of cereals, cheese, selection of good jams, different sorts of bread and rolls, fruit juices and big pots of good, strong coffee.

Points to watch out for: not all rooms have en suite facilities so be sure you are clear what you are buying; they do not accept credit cards, but you can pre-pay via hotel booking sites; the tripadvisor free breakfast offer is for one day's breakfast, no matter how long your stay.

So the key good things were exceptionally cheerful staff and a good breakfast that lifted the hotel above the normal performance for its price range and location.
